Choices

“For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.” Romans 7:15 (KJV)

Decisions.

Have you ever done something that is the total opposite of what you know is best for you?  The Holy Spirit is our Guide and our Protector. He wants only the best for us. God loves us so much that He gives us the ability to make our own decisions. That is the ultimate level of trust. I’m reminded of a poem I wrote.

My Secret Place**

I have a secret place

Where I will sometimes flee.

It’s a place that’s kept well hidden

So others cannot see.

My secret is the part of me

That I have not released

To my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,

My King and Prince of Peace.

Why do I hold on to this place?

When I know yielding will erase

The pain that daily I must face?

And, yet, I return to my secret place.

We serve a God who loves us in spite of the decisions we make. Repentance is the key. Daily I strive to stay in His will. I thank God that He provides new mercies every day.  I may have missed the mark yesterday. But today is a brand new day. Today I have a new opportunity to grow even closer to Him. I thank God for giving us choices and then gently putting us back on track when we go astray.
