Against All Odds: Part 2

james-pond-191266-unsplashGod always calls you to do something greater than your ability. That’s because God’s purpose for your life can’t be hindered by your circumstances, weaknesses, limitations, mistakes or failures. Your past no longer defines who you are, or what you can become or accomplish. Not only has God spoken a word over your life, you are a word spoken out of the mouth of God. And God’s Word never returns to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). You’re in the process of becoming who God says you already are.

The enemy tries to distract and overwhelm you with circumstances. Trials can blind you to God’s purpose, especially when there seems to be no relief in sight. The enemy would have you think time is working against you. But from God’s perspective, time is an incubator for promise fulfillment. I admit sometimes God gets on my nerves because He takes His time suddenly. He takes forever to move, but when He does, He expects us to move swiftly along with Him.

Like Gideon, God uses a problem to birth the greatness in you. God sees your possibilities through His power. The very thing you run and hide from is the very thing God has empowered you to overcome. Jesus never intends for you to stay in the same place. The Lord calls you out of the old so He can shift you into the new. What God is about to do in your life will be unmistakably Jesus. Jesus is working to enhance the miracle called your life!

God promised Gideon victory while his future still looked bleak. God did a crazy thing after Gideon assembled the Israelites. God whittled the Israelite army down to three hundred men who were to go into battle against one hundred thirty-five thousand Midianites. Gideon and his men were outnumbered 450 to 1. All God required of Gideon was for him to show up for the battle. God would do the rest. God does His best work when the odds are stacked against you.

Gideon and each of his men went into battle with a trumpet, a vessel and a torch, the components for victory. Each of God’s children has a trumpet, a vessel and a torch. The trumpet is your mouth which is designed to make a sound. God has equipped you to speak things into existence before they appear because you’re created to operate like Him (Genesis 1:26). The vessel which is your body contains a torch. A torch is a light. Light symbolizes the presence of the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6 says, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord of hosts.” The indwelling of the Holy Spirit empowers you to overcome against all odds. While it looks like you’re all alone, you’re destined to win. This year God will perform the greatest move in your life. Don’t worry if the odds are stacked against you. God is with you. All you have to do is show up!

Until next time…Be blessed!
