We’re living in tumultuous times were day after day we’re bombarded with one “breaking” news report after another. If you’re not mindful, news reports will leave you angry, discouraged and depressed. The writer of II Corinthians 4:18 says, “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen” (NLT). With all that’s going on in the world, how is it possible to see beyond sight as the writer instructs us?
Here are three principles that can help you see beyond your now.
First Principle: The invisible is birthed through the eyes of faith. Your faith must include expectation, confidence and believing. God has already seen you through what you’re experiencing. Faith is the bridge that connects you to the future reality God has planned for your life.
Second Principle: Where your faith is directed dictates how far you can see. Your Christian walk requires double vision. With your natural eye you acknowledge what’s going on. But with your spiritual eye you focus on what God says about you. Salvation doesn’t exempt you from trouble. Rather, it means you’re empowered to overcome every difficulty you face. Nothing is too hard for God. This makes the impossible possible for you.
Third Principle: Express your faith through your actions. Faith without works is dead. It’s not enough to say you believe God. Faith means you act on God’s Word and believe He’ll bring you through.
Your perception of your situation is not God’s reality for your life. The thing that seems to block your progress is what God is going to use to reveal His reality for your life. Read, study, meditate and rest your faith in God’s Word and not what you see, how you feel, or what you think. Faith makes things possible, not easy. The passage of time can cause doubt to seep into your thoughts and spill out into your speech. Nourish your faith with scripture so that the content of your faith becomes the Word of God. God’s Word won’t return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11).
Be strong and of good courage. Always remember God rewards those who trust Him in spite of what they see.
Until next time…be blessed!
